CHINA: The Ugly Bully

China is at it again doing what it does best: BULLYING!

This coward is picking on defenseless, small, harmless fishing boats making a living. Imagine a 1,000 tonne ship using a water cannon against small fishing boats. What an insolent act of a super-power wannabe. Why not pick somebody its own size? Did the captain of that Chinese vessel inhaled too much smog lately?

China's CMS 66 Patrolling the West Philippine Sea

"What is important is for fishermen to continue what they are doing such as fishing. They cannot be intimidated by the actions of the Chinese coast guard...”
~ Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala, AFP Public Affairs Office Chief.

It is important too that our fishermen are protected from harm and harassment. What if these small boats capsize because of the water cannons? What if the Chinese takes it to the next level and ram their ships against our small fishing boats next? What if the harassment results to fatalities? Could you blame the fisher folks if they create a militia and decide to take the Chinese coast guard vessels head-on? Filipinos when driven to the edge are capable of making something crude but effective and deadly means to get even.

Ever heard of a remote-controlled motorized banca bomb? Car bombs are popular in Iraq and the rest of the Middle East but if the aggression continue, these Chinese vessels wandering off Philippine territories will likely get its fair share.

Panatag shoal belongs to the Filipinos, it is a fact. But Filipinos are being driven out of their territories because it lacks a deterrent to make land grabbers like China think twice to steal more of Philippine territories. The Philippines now must fast-track the modernization of its armed forces to make sure incidents like this never happen again. It must make sure that the upgrades for the Air Force, Navy and the Army must be delivered as scheduled. No further delays.

China, STOP BULLYING!

Glimpse of Hope

IN my previous post: We Must Find a Way, I presented the idea regarding finding real solutions to prevent catastrophes brought about by Super Typhoons, Rising Tides and other calamities that comes with Global Warming and Climate Change.

It is good to know that scientists are now working on projects to save this planet from destruction by Turning Greenhouse Gases into Fuel in order to reduce the amount of carbon and other greenhouse gases in the Earth's atmosphere in order to reverse global warming.

While governments slacks in  implementing measures to reduce fossil fuel use and migrate to renewable sources of energy, it must support researches, projects like this one and encourage more groups to do the same.  It must find, by all means, find more ways to get rid of harmful gases to ensure the survival of the human race.

The quest to save Mother Earth is ON. Turning greenhouse gases into fuel is just the beginning. Much is needed to be done. Let's look forward for more.

There's HOPE FOR MANKIND.

Bangon Concepcion!

100 Days After Yolanda, Concepcion Moves On

BANGON CONCEPCION -- a phrase typhoon victims say to each other and to the visitors;  to encourage fellow victims, to give hope, which literally means: "RISE UP CONCEPCION". The phrase is in fact also a popular hash tag #bangonconcepcion in social media websites along with #bangonvisayas

Interesting is that you can see this phrase now painted in the new motorbancas ("pumpboats" in the local dialect) donated by international NGOs (Non-Government Organizations),  philanthropists, and concerned groups to fishermen who lost their motorbancas which is their primary source of living due to Super Typhoon Yolanda.

New Motorbancas for the Fisherfolks

Last Friday, February 14, 2014, a turn-over ceremony was held in Concepcion Fishing Port attended by motorbanca donors, the municipal and provincial officials and the fisher folks.

WE MUST FIND A WAY

Coal

Mankind’s use of fossil fuels and its carbon emissions is getting us into trouble every second of the day. Our dependence to fossil fuels resulted to a warmer planet, rising sea levels, killer storms… We are at a point of no return. According to scientists, it is impossible to undo what we have been doing for the past decades. We can of course plant more trees and keep our fingers crossed that it will somehow help in reducing the amount of carbon we have in our atmosphere but we must drastically stop the use fossil fuels to avoid apocalypse. Go green, Go Renewable, Save Mother Earth.

Go Solar, Go Green, Go Renewable

Why is it then that governments still allow the creation of more coal plants, diesel plants and other earth-unfriendly energy sources? Possibly misguided by the More Trees, No Global Warming Myth or maybe because of the greed of money. See the bigger picture now? Fossil fuel use is like drug-dependence, tis not easy to stop and let go.

More Coal Plants

WE MUST ACT and we must accept the fact that planting more trees alone cannot really save us from the catastrophes brought about by Climate Change. We cannot reverse Global Warming that easy. We too must accept the fact that we cannot rely on our governments to comply with the Kyoto Protocol.

We are humans. We have a brain, why not use it? If we are able to think and build sophisticated weapons, defense systems, electronics, communications equipment, space and beyond projects; why can’t we think of building something that will reduce carbon gases in the Earth’s atmosphere and convert it to energy? Why not build something to that will save humanity? Moving to Mars? That is so LAME.

Can heat or humidity be absorbed by a device and turn it to energy so that in a way the Earth will be cooler? I don’t know yet but I am sure we can find a way how.

Carry the Sea Water into Space

Can sea water be transported outside this planet in the event that the sea level rise becomes a real threat to the populace? If we are able to go to space, then why not carry the sea water and throw it elsewhere?

What we can conceive and imagine, WE CAN DO.

There are now groups working on force fields to protect us from natural calamities. I surely hope that as of this writing there are groups working on how the prevent it.

WE MUST FIND A WAY!

US Bases in the Philippines?

President PNoy to Obama: "I want a ship this big"
POSSIBLE finalizing of talks and negotiations regarding putting up US bases and deployment of troops in the Philippines as President Barack Obama is scheduled to visit the country this April.

Philippines and US panels resume negotiations to allow increased rotational presence of American troops in the Philippines

The piers where American aircraft carriers once tied up are largely empty, although a nearby boat club is filled with luxury yachts owned by Hong Kong millionaires who jet in for weekends.
But bringing back the once-spurned Yanks won't be so simple. The reasons illustrate the way that China's rapid rise as a regional military power—one that now possesses fleets of modern warships, nuclear-powered submarines, ballistic missiles and stealth fighters—has reshaped the calculus for Pentagon planners in Asia since that vote to eject the American forces.
For a start, the Philippines itself would have to reverse a constitutional ban on allowing a foreign power to establish a permanent military base. But assuming that was possible, America still wouldn't be interested. Bases are potential sitting ducks for Chinese missiles. Plus, they are expensive. At a time of budget cuts, it's far cheaper to sign a treaty with friendly countries guaranteeing access for U.S. forces than to pay rent. In military-speak, America wants "places not bases".

A New Ball Game

"It looks like a new ball game in the South China Sea. And per SWS survey, this is strongly supported by 82% of the Filipino people, and that includes your truly, having pursued this as a major personal and congressional advocacy since the mid-90s when China illegally, immorally, brutishly and perfidiously grabbed our Mischief Reef and violated our Exclusive Economic Zone, and continues to do so in the Scarborough Shoal or Bajo de Masinloc area..."

Yolanda Rehablitation

Three months after Super Typhoon Yolanda devastated the country, the Filipinos are back on their feet, rebuilding what was lost to the strongest cyclone in the history of the world.

The national government has already released P17.69 billion for the recovery and rehabilitation program in communities felled by the super typhoon in November last year, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said on February 11.
In a statement, Budget and Management Secretary Florencio B. Abad assured that the government continuously expedite the rehabilitation and recovery process for all communities destroyed by super-typhoon “Yolanda.”
